Barnes Hired as IT Director-Operations

Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. is proud to announce the recent hiring of Ronald Barnes as IT Director- Operations. Barnes previously worked with Nonotuck through a partnership with Horace Mann Educational Associates (HMEA), where he worked for 21 years.

In addition to his work with HMEA, he has also worked for AAA Southern New England, Trust Insurance Company in Taunton MA, and AIG/ Lexington Insurance in Boston, among others.

“Nonotuck is a forward-thinking company when it comes to technology, and that starts from the top down,” Barnes says. “I believe in Nonotuck’s values. I’ve been in IT for 37 years, and 21 at a fellow Massachusetts nonprofit. I understand the challenges nonprofits have around technology, budgets, survey, and certification. I can jump in and speak the language immediately.”

“For the past 15 plus years we’ve looked at HMEA as a sister organization and their IT service, Clouds4Causes, as a cousin.  Ron, as the leader of C4C, worked hand and hand with Nonotuck to develop and manage our complicated IT systems,” says Nonotuck CEO/President George H. Fleischner. “It was a great relationship we forged together and to now have him as an employee of Nonotuck is awesome.  We are very fortunate and pleased to have Ron onboard.”

Outside of work, Barnes enjoys fishing, as well as serving as a commander of a historic colonial militia unit, The Pawtuxet Rangers - 1774, and is a member of multiple historical genealogy groups. He lives in Johnston, Rhode Island with his mini dachshund Ollie.

“(Through shared living) people with a disability experience a real transformation and discover confidence in themselves; they discover their capacity to make choices, and also find a certain liberty and above all their dignity as human beings.”
