Nonotuck Completes SharePoint Transition

Nonotuck recently completed a full transition of its institutional data to SharePoint, adding another technological innovation to its operations. SharePoint, a secure, cloud-based platform developed for document management, collaboration, and internal communication, now serves as the organization’s centralized system for storing and sharing information. The project, which began in May, was led and completed by Vice President of Information Technology Ron Barnes.

The transition marks an important step forward in strengthening collaboration across all locations. By improving access to shared documents and enhancing overall security, the new system provides a more reliable and consistent foundation for communication throughout the organization.

Beyond the technical improvements, the change supports employees in working more efficiently and consistently, regardless of where they are located. With a stronger infrastructure in place, the organization is also better positioned to embrace future technology enhancements and continued growth.

Ron says the project is made possible by Nonotuck’s forward-thinking philosophy on emerging technologies. “George is a CEO who embraces technology. He believes in technology. He doesn’t believe it replaces the personal one-to-one or personal service or something, but it’s a tool to help.” He says, continuing. “In the long run, we’re helping the people we serve, because we’re helping the employees {who serve them}.”

“What stood out to me most throughout this process was not just the amount of work involved, but Ron’s positive attitude and kindness towards staff,” says Nonotuck President/CEO George H. Fleischner. “In the {meetings} I had with him I’d ask for an update on the process.  Ron consistently responded to my question by talking about how helpful program staff were and how much he appreciated getting to know people from every department and every office.”

Ron concurs, saying: “I got to work with every department and probably every person in every department. The VPs and Program Directors were central to the success of this. It wouldn’t have been successful without their cooperation.”

The Sharepoint project is another in a long list of advancements from Nonotuck’s IT department, including the embrace of Artificial Intelligence with the hiring of Robert Bowen among other expansions of our IT department.
