George has led the agency as its president and CEO since the fall of 1987. He brought to Nonotuck a firm and deep-rooted set of values that centered on his profound belief in family, community, life sharing and authentic relationships. Early in his tenure, and based on these values, George guided the agency’s path from congregate care [by closing 15 group homes and moving all 55 people it served] into the personalized service of shared living. His leadership has taken Nonotuck from a small western Massachusetts based organization to a large state-wide agency with 12 offices from Pittsfield to Hyannis while serving over 300 people in shared living and over 800 people in adult family care. George is nationally recognized as an innovator of value-based and personalized services to people with intellectually and/or physically disabled people. George has two children and lives in the small town of Williamsburg, Massachusetts.
With a deep-rooted connection to Human Services, Amalie "Amma" Sullivan-Joyce was inspired by her parents' careers in the field—her mother in Hospice and her father, a long-time caregiver at Nonotuck. Growing up, Amma was profoundly influenced by the compassion and dedication her parents exhibited, particularly by her father's 30-year shared living relationship with Ron, whom she affectionately calls "Uncle Ron."
This personal connection to Nonotuck's mission made her transition into the Human Services field a natural and heartfelt decision.
Amma's enthusiasm for her role at Nonotuck is matched by her diverse interests outside of work. She enjoys a variety of hobbies, including crocheting, drawing, painting, hiking, and spending time with her beloved pets—a bearded dragon, two cats, and a dog. Amma also has a passion for trying new foods and cooking, with Vietnamese fresh wraps and sushi being her top culinary favorites. When it comes to music, she appreciates all genres but has a particular fondness for alternative music.

Learn how Nonotuck developed a love-based ideology of care. We started our shared living program as an alternative to group homes for people with disabilities. Instead, Shared Living creates genuine life transformation for people with disabilities, as well as families and communities. The true power of caregiving is found through hospitality, authenticity, and love.
