Each year the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) celebrates accomplishments made by people with disabilities, their families and others.
This year our own Kitty Curtin and Dan McDonald were recognized for their life together. Nominated by Chris Symanowicz, DDS Berkshire County Service Coordinator, Kitty and Danny traveled to Boston last week to receive their recognition from the DDS Commissioner Jane Ryder in the Great Hall at the State House.
The award celebrates Kitty and Danny for working together to create a better life. We all stand and congratulate Kitty and Danny for the wonderful life they’ve have had together and all they’ve given to each other while sharing their lives for over 23 years. We feel very humbled and fortunate at Nonotuck to be witness to such love and care.

Learn how Nonotuck developed a love-based ideology of care. We started our shared living program as an alternative to group homes for people with disabilities. Instead, Shared Living creates genuine life transformation for people with disabilities, as well as families and communities. The true power of caregiving is found through hospitality, authenticity, and love.
