At the over than 120 L'Arche communities throughout the world, people with and without disabilities and care-givers create a home together, sharing meals and activities, joys and pain. While providing the disabled with a loving and supportive environment, L'Arche also hopes to promote greater acceptance of people with disabilities in society at large through integrating the lives of its residents with those of their local community. The video A Visit With Jean Vanier provides a window onto the unique world of L'Arche along with an intimate portrait of its charismatic and deeply spiritual founder. With humor and eloquence, Vanier discusses the personal journey that has helped shape his profoundly humanistic philosophy. Recognizing "the pain of what it means for a man or a woman to be seen as having no value," with L'Arche, Vanier hopes to help the disabled discover their beauty and in doing so, to have created " a place where we can celebrate life together." The video interview with Jean Vanier, conducted by Bob Hannum of Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. , was produced by Spectrum Media. The video is on 1/2 inch VHS tape. The price of the video is $50 ( includes shipping and handling ). |
